For example, when the lining of your gut becomes inflamed - whether due to food sensitivities, poor diet, medication, overgrowth of harmful bacteria, or chronic stress - it's natural barrier function is negatively impacted, causing your gut to become permeable or "leaky". Increased intestinal permeability can lead to problems in your immune, nervous, and endocrine systems as seen in the infographic above.
